Amiga mouse to Atari ST adapter, how to do it right
November 29th, 2011
There seem to be differing opinions and uncertainty concerning the Amiga->Atari ST mouse adapter wiring. Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but in practice there is only one way to do it correctly. And it goes as follows:
Amiga |
Atari |
Name |
1 | 4 | v-pulse/YB |
2 | 2 | h-pulse/XA |
3 | 3 | vq-pulse/YA |
4 | 1 | hq-pulse/XB |
5 | 5 | button 3/middle button/normally not used on ST |
6 | 6 | button 1/left button |
7 | 7 | +5V |
8 | 8 | ground |
9 | 9 | button 2/right button |
To say it short: cross over pins 1 and 4 and you should be fine. Tested with two different mice and it worked flawlessly. Before starting any wiring, it makes sense to check whether your mouse already has a switch for the conversion. For example Wizard mice do.
